What’s your favorite local public property? Without a doubt, mine is The Oaks Golf Course in my hometown of Cottage Grove, Wisconsin.

In 2003, architect Greg Martin took an odd-shaped, rolling piece of farmland and converted it into one of the most unique and engaging courses in southern Wisconsin. Under the careful ownership of the Blaska family (including General Manager and my next-door neighbor, Jessica Blaska-Grady), this facility has matured over the past 20 years to provide an exceptional and challenging golf experience for players of all skill levels.

This past weekend I took my drone out to The Oaks at sunrise, and enjoyed a perfectly clear, sunny morning to capture the dramatic property in all its glory. My video, posted on the WiscoGolfAddict YouTube channel, features the highlights of this soul-stirring morning:

I have also updated my 2022 course review with select drone photos from this memorable shoot. Check out these updates and read on to see why The Oaks is such a great local public property just a few miles from home:

If you are visiting or passing through the Madison area, The Oaks is definitely worth a visit!
