Best Golf Shirts

Holderness & Bourne

2025 Review | 2020 Review

Holderness & Bourne continues to set the gold standard when it comes to classic, sophisticated golf polos. Their tailored fit, refined details and versatile fabrics make them a favorite in my rotation year after year. Whether it’s the elevated look of the Maxwell polo or the understated perfection of the Ward sweater, these are shirts that transition effortlessly from course to clubhouse and beyond.

What I love most about H&B is their focus on fit and feel – a slightly structured collar that holds up all round, breathable performance fabrics that don’t scream “tech,” and just the right cut for a modern yet timeless silhouette. If you’re investing in polos that will stand the test of time both in quality and in style, start here.

Bald Head Blues

2023 Review | 2022 Review

With laid-back coastal vibes and buttery soft fabrics, Bald Head Blues brings the Carolina beach lifestyle to the fairways. Their Polos with Performance Cotton blends are incredibly soft and breathable with a natural drape that looks as good untucked at dinner as it does tucked in on the tee box.

Bald Head Blues is all about comfort with character – whether it’s their signature golf cart logo or the splash of color and print, these shirts help you stand out in all the right ways. They’re a staple for spring and summer rounds, and I keep going back to them when I want something fun but refined.

Pro tip: if you’re looking for a polo that rivals Holderness & Bourne at a slightly lower price point, to me it’s Bald Head Blues.

Primo Apparel

2022 review

Primo came onto my radar a few years ago as a golf jogger brand, but their polos deserve equal praise. They strike a nice balance between modern athleticism and classic styling, with lightweight materials and just enough stretch to keep you moving comfortably all round.

Their tops – oftentimes with great, stylish accents like a patterned color – pair perfectly with the joggers that put them on the map, but they also stand tall on their own for warm-weather rounds or layered looks. If you’re looking to add a younger, sportier flair to your golf wardrobe, Primo has the goods.

Redvanly

2022 review | 2021 review

Redvanly polos are sleek, performance-oriented and made with proprietary fabrics that feel like a second skin. Their Glide and Flextek materials are breathable, moisture-wicking and ultra-comfortable – ideal for summer rounds where mobility and sweat-resistance are non-negotiables.

They also bring some bold design options, but never in a way that feels overdone. Redvanly nails that tricky space between “performance brand” and “premium lifestyle,” and their shirts are a legit contender in any serious golfer’s wardrobe.

Sunday Swagger

2024 review

Sunday Swagger has exploded in popularity thanks to their bold prints and electric personalities – and honestly, it’s well-earned. These polos bring serious fun to the fairway without sacrificing performance. Their lightweight, breathable material is ideal for hot rounds, and the four-way stretch keeps you comfortable even during the full send.

They’re perfect for tournament scrambles, golf trips with buddies or any time you’re looking to make a splash with your style. If you like your gear with a little extra swagger, they live up to the name.

2023 review

Full Wedge blends high-energy design with comfort-forward performance. They’re an up-and-coming brand that knows how to connect with a younger audience, and their polos reflect that: bold, expressive and ideal for social golf.

I appreciate their mission to bring more fun and personality to the game – and their fit and fabric choices back that up with serious quality. It’s a brand I’m excited to watch continue to grow.

Best Wisconsin-Linked Apparel Brands

Old Fashioned Golf

2021 Review

Born from a love of both golf and Wisconsin traditions, Old Fashioned Golf is a brand that instantly resonates with Midwest golfers. Their designs are playful, distinctly local and packed with personality – whether it’s a t-shirt featuring a Brandy Old Fashioned or a hoodie emblazoned with “Up North.” As someone who’s passionate about both the sport and our state, I’ve found OFG to be a fun, easy way to showcase that shared identity. It’s apparel that brings people together – whether it’s in the parking lot at Erin Hills or around the firepit after a round at Sand Valley.

Their gear makes great gifts, especially for the Wisconsin-based player who already has everything, and they’ve continued to expand their lineup with fresh, seasonal drops that keep things interesting. It’s clear this isn’t just another lifestyle brand – it’s a tribute to the golf culture that’s thriving here in the Badger State.

States Golf

[review in the works]

States Golf may be relatively new on the scene, but they’re already carving out a unique space by blending sleek design with state-based pride. Their Wisconsin collection keeps things minimalist and sharp, often incorporating state outlines and clean typography that lets the message speak for itself. I haven’t written a full review yet, but I’ve been impressed with the quality and wearability of their gear – it’s the kind of subtle statement piece you can wear anywhere without shouting “golf brand” at everyone you pass.

If you’re like me and love to rep your home turf in understated fashion, States Golf delivers a classy, modern look. I’m looking forward to seeing how this brand evolves and would recommend it to anyone looking for something local, thoughtful and refined.

HyperNatural

2024 review

Founded by Milwaukee-native Chris Kolbe, HyperNatural stands out as one of the most innovative apparel brands I’ve reviewed. Their shirts are built using cutting-edge, sustainable materials – including jade-infused cooling fabrics and repurposed crab shells for odor control and anti-bacterial properties. On the course, this means staying cool, fresh and comfortable even on the hottest Midwest summer days. Off the course, it’s a shirt that looks sharp and feels even better.

HyperNatural has the rare combination of high-tech function and effortless style. It’s not just golf apparel – it’s everyday luxury with a purpose. I love the brand’s mission, the Wisconsin connection and the fact that it performs just as well at the club as it does on a patio in downtown Milwaukee. If you’re looking for a brand that’s pushing boundaries while staying rooted in quality and sustainability, this is one worth supporting.

Everyday Golf-Themed Apparel

SwingJuice

2023 review

If you’re looking to show off your love of the game even when you’re not on the course, SwingJuice continues to be one of my go-to lifestyle brands. Their graphic tees, hoodies and hats combine humor and style with a clear passion for golf culture. Whether it’s a playful “Tee Time is Me Time” shirt or a clean, retro logo design, their pieces bring a casual coolness that works just as well at the 19th hole as it does at a backyard BBQ. Over the past few years, SwingJuice has expanded their catalog with more premium materials and subtle designs that appeal to both golf (as well as baseball and pickleball) die-hards and those who just like the vibe of the game.

What I appreciate most is how comfortable and well-made their apparel is. They’ve nailed the athleisure/lifestyle balance, which makes it easy to rep your favorite game without going full polos and pleats. It’s a brand that lets your personality show through while still feeling polished – and I find myself reaching for their shirts all the time when I’m packing for golf trips or just hanging around town.

Free Fly Apparel

2024 review

Free Fly isn’t exclusively a golf brand, but their apparel has earned a permanent spot in my everyday wardrobe – and for good reason. Built for comfort and performance, their gear shines in warm, humid conditions, making it perfect for rounds during the dog days of summer. Their bamboo blends are unbelievably soft and lightweight, offering moisture-wicking and sun protection that’s ideal for long days outside. Whether I’m wearing their Breeze shorts or a lightweight hoodie over a golf polo, Free Fly gear brings a relaxed, versatile aesthetic that transitions easily from course to casual.

I’ve worn Free Fly on and off the course, on the boat, during family vacations and just about everywhere in between. The designs are clean and coastal-inspired, and they pack up nicely for travel. If you’re looking for gear that balances technical performance with laid-back everyday wearability, this is a brand well worth checking out!

2024 review

It’s impossible to ignore Malbon’s influence on the overall golf lifestyle space. Malbon brings streetwear credibility to golf apparel, blending fashion-forward looks with unmistakable golf identity. Their collections feature bold branding, limited drops and a strong sense of culture that resonates with a younger, style-conscious crowd.

Malbon’s pieces aren’t just about being seen – they’re also built for performance. All-Weather Gear

Galway Bay

2023 article | 2022 review | 2021 review

If there’s one brand that’s completely changed the way I approach bad-weather golf, it’s Galway Bay. Their rain gear is second to none – lightweight, breathable and completely waterproof without the plastic-y feel or noisy materials you get from other brands. I’ve worn their All-Weather Pants and jackets in some brutal Midwest conditions, and they’ve kept me dry and comfortable from the first tee to the final putt.

What really impresses me about Galway Bay is how well their gear moves. You don’t feel restricted swinging a driver or walking 18. And with their tailored fit and stylish designs, you don’t have to sacrifice your look just because the skies open up. If you’re serious about playing through anything, Galway Bay should be at the top of your list.

Galway Bay is hands-down the best all-weather gear in golf, and if you’ll be visiting Europe or Bandon anytime in the near future you’ll be thrilled to have some packed.

Sun Mountain

2022 review

Sun Mountain has long been known for their high-quality golf bags and outerwear, and their RainFlex Elite gear continues that legacy. This is top-tier rain gear designed with golfers in mind – quiet, stretchy and ready for all-day wear. The RainFlex Elite jacket is especially nice for early morning rounds or misty afternoons where protection and flexibility are key.

The fit and feel are just right – not too slim, not too baggy – and it packs down easily into your bag without adding bulk. I’ve found it to be one of the most reliable outerwear options when conditions are uncertain, and as a bonus, it looks sharp, too. For high-performance rain gear from a trusted name in golf, Sun Mountain delivers.

Heated Apparel

Ororo

2023 review

Ororo was my first introduction to heated golf apparel, and they set the bar high. Their heated vests and gloves are game-changers for cold-weather rounds, especially here in Wisconsin where the season can stretch into some chilly conditions. The vest heats up quickly, provides adjustable warmth and still manages to feel lightweight and comfortable under a quarter-zip or jacket.

What really stands out about Ororo is how well their products integrate with a golf swing – they’re not bulky or awkward, and the battery packs are compact enough that you hardly notice them. When the temps dip below 40 and you’re still itching to get out on the course, Ororo helps make that happen comfortably.

Ororo’s’ heated vests are my personal favorite

G-Tech Apparel

2023 review | 2021 review

G-Tech has carved out a niche for golfers with their heated hand warmers, vests and hoodies that are specifically engineered for cold rounds. Their patented heating technology is seriously powerful, and the battery life is excellent. I’ve worn the heated hoodie on brisk fall mornings and early-spring rounds, and it makes a huge difference.

Their vests and hoodies look great, too – more like athletic outerwear than specialized cold-weather gear. If you’re someone who struggles to stay loose and warm between shots, G-Tech is one of the best ways to keep your body ready and your hands feeling fresh.

Volt Heat

2022 review (1) | 2022 review (2)

Volt offers a wide range of heated gear, from mittens and vests to what might be my favorite golf-adjacent winter accessory: the heated stadium blanket. Perfect for spectators, early tailgates or post-round hangs around the firepit, it brings next-level warmth. Their mittens are also among the warmest I’ve tried and are a great option for between shots or driving in on icy mornings.

Volt products are thoughtfully designed with durability in mind, and I’ve been impressed with their performance across multiple seasons. They’re a brand that understands cold weather and delivers on both comfort and functionality.

Venustas

2025 review

Venustas may not be a household name yet, but their heated vest is one of the best values we’ve tested. It’s stylish, fits well under other layers and provides balanced warmth across the core – exactly where you need it most during a brisk round. The battery life is impressive and it holds up great for walking 18 or even layering up for range sessions.

For players who want heated gear without breaking the bank, Venustas is an excellent entry point. It’s functional, surprisingly lightweight and looks sharp enough to wear beyond the course.

Weston

2022 review

Weston brings a sleeker, more fashion-forward aesthetic to heated outerwear, but make no mistake – their gear performs. Their heated vests and jackets look great on and off the course, with slim silhouettes and durable fabric that holds up well over time. I’ve found their heated vest to be one of the more stylish options, especially when you want to stay warm without looking overly bundled.

If you’re the kind of player who prioritizes form and function equally, Weston hits the sweet spot. They’re great for layering and versatile enough to wear from the course to dinner, which makes them a smart investment for any cold-weather golfer.

Best Golf Pants/Bottoms

Primo Golf Apparel

2022 review

Primo’s joggers have become a staple in my golf wardrobe. From the moment I first wore them, I was hooked – not just on the look, but on the fit and function. The tapered leg gives them a modern, athletic aesthetic that looks sharp without feeling like you’re trying too hard. They’re stretchy, breathable and just plain comfortable. Whether it’s a casual weekday round or a cooler-weather morning at a top-tier destination, these joggers move with you and hold up to the rigors of 18 (or 36) holes.

What really sold me on Primo is how easily their pants go from course to clubhouse to dinner. They’ve found the sweet spot between golf-ready and street-ready, which makes them incredibly versatile. If you’re looking for bottoms that make a style statement while still delivering all the performance you need, Primo should be at the top of your list.

Holderness & Bourne

2025 Review | 2020 Review

Known primarily for their sophisticated polos and quarter-zips, Holderness & Bourne has also been quietly building one of the most polished and performance-driven lines of golf pants in the game. Their Sullivan and Parker pants reflect the same clean lines and classic sensibilities as the rest of their apparel, but with subtle tech features like four-way stretch and moisture-wicking fabrics that keep you comfortable throughout the round.

What I appreciate most about H&B pants is that they feel like elevated essentials. They don’t scream for attention – but if you know, you know. The fit is refined without being restrictive, and they’re the kind of pants that make you feel like you belong at any club, anywhere. Paired with one of their signature shirts, it’s a timeless look that feels as good as it performs.

BirdDogs

2024 review

BirdDogs are unapologetically comfortable – and if you’ve worn them, you already know. Designed with a built-in liner and ridiculously soft performance fabric, their pants and shorts are perfect for casual rounds or laid-back golf trips where comfort reigns supreme. They’re not the most traditional golf bottoms out there, but they have a loyal following for a reason.

I’ve worn BirdDogs on the course many times, as well as at the airport and everywhere in between. They might not be what you reach for when you’re teeing it up at a black-tie country club, but for everyday wear and relaxed rounds with friends, they’re hard to beat. The brand has a sense of humor, sure – but the comfort is seriously next-level.

Redvanly might be best known for their bold, modern golf shirts, but don’t sleep on their bottoms. Their pants and shorts are made from a proprietary GLYDING nylon fabric that delivers exceptional stretch and breathability, along with a sleek, athletic silhouette. I’ve worn Redvanly pants in some of the most demanding conditions – from long walks at destination courses to travel days – and they’ve held up beautifully every time.

What sets Redvanly apart is the way they blend performance materials with fashion-forward cuts. These aren’t your grandfather’s slacks – they’re made for the modern player who wants to look good, feel good and move freely. Shoes

ECCO

2025 review | 2023 review | 2022 review

When it comes to comfort and performance straight out of the box, it’s impossible to beat ECCO. Their BIOM series in particular has become a go-to for me, especially for travel golf where I know I’ll be walking a lot. The traction is excellent, the waterproofing holds up in wet conditions, and the leather quality is premium – which is no surprise from a brand that owns every step of their production, from hide to final product.

ECCO shoes may come with a higher price tag, but they more than justify it with durability and long-lasting comfort. They’ve got a refined, European style that works for golf enthusiasts of all ages, and if you’re planning to walk multiple rounds in a day (or just value how your feet feel by hole 16), these are well worth the investment.

True Linkswear

2023 review | 2022 review

True Linkswear has always marched to the beat of their own drum, and I love them for it. Their mission is clear: build the most comfortable walking golf shoe on the planet. And they’ve absolutely delivered. The All Day Ripstop and Knit models have become staples for me when I’m walking 18 or traveling to new courses (and want a pair of shoes that can be worn for any occasion, whether golf, hiking or going out). They’re feather-light, waterproof and molded to your foot in a way that almost feels like wearing a sock with grip.

What makes TRUE special is their focus on walking comfort without sacrificing style or performance. They’ve leaned into sustainability with several recent models, and the fit/finish has only gotten better year after year. These are shoes that prioritize the feel of the game.

Merrell

2025 review

Merrell isn’t a traditional golf brand, but their Moab Speed 2 Gore-Tex trail shoes absolutely work for golf – especially in early spring or late fall rounds when conditions are less than ideal. These are rugged, waterproof and made to handle uneven terrain, making them perfect for those “off-season” days at local muni courses or walking rugged layouts like The Lido.

Their grip and weatherproofing rival most golf-specific shoes, and the comfort is top-notch. If you enjoy a little crossover in your footwear (or just appreciate a shoe you can hike and golf in), Merrell brings a lot to the table.

Athalonz golf shoes are built differently – and once you’ve walked a few rounds in them, it’s easy to feel why. With a patented midsole design that promotes better posture, balance and ground force, these shoes are engineered for performance from the ground up. I’ve worn both the ENVE and MANA models, and each one delivers a noticeably stable, connected feel during the swing. 2023 review

Bombas has been a staple in my wardrobe for a couple of years now, and once you try them it’s hard to go back to anything else. Their golf-specific socks are thoughtfully designed with strategic cushioning, arch support and stay-up technology that actually works. No slipping, no bunching – just all-day comfort whether you’re walking a bucket-list course or grinding through league night.

What I love most about Bombas is their attention to detail. The comfort level is unmatched, and the quality holds up round after round, wash after wash. Add in their “buy one, give one” mission that donates a pair to someone in need for every pair purchased, and you’ve got a brand that delivers both performance and purpose.

Where the value comes in with Bombas, though, is in their replacement guarantee. I’ve got over 70 pairs of Bombas in my dresser, and while they aren’t cheap they hold up – and if you wear a hole in them the company will replace them no questions asked.
