White sandy beaches…
Lush palm trees…
Crystal blue sparkling water.
One might think I’m describing an island in the Caribbean. Or a Polynesian oasis .
But in reality, I’m talking about a place in Orlando. Where the nearest beach is over an hour away.
That place… Evermore Resort.
Located just minutes away from the “House of Mouse,” right in the middle of all the Magic, the $1.5 billion dollar mega-resort opened on New Year’s Day of 2024 and has more bells and whistles than a Ticker-Tape Parade.
At the heart of the resort is Evermore Bay. An 8-acre manmade lake that is really just a MASSIVE pool. And when I say MASSIVE, I mean MASSIVE.
You can swim in it… kayak in it… heck, you can even take a boat from one end to the other.
And surrounding the massive beach-lined lagoon are hundreds of 4-to-2 bedroom flats, villas and houses… accounting for over two-thousand bedrooms. And these homes-away-from-home are amazing.
For our “WiscoGolfAddict Florida Swing” last month we stayed in a 4-bedroom premium flat, on the 5th floor overlooking the Bay. These flats feature stunning views with a full kitchen, laundry room, living room, dining room, balcony and the ability to sleep 11 guests.
And the food scene is on point. The resort features a great restaurant, awesome food court, a market place and multiple bars.
But the main reason we took our talents to this beach resort in the middle of Orlando was for the golf. Evermore is home to “Grand Cypress Golf Club,” which features not one, but two Jack Nicklaus designed courses… the“Cypress” and “Links.”
The “Links” course is Nicklaus’ tribute to the Old Course at St. Andrew’s and is set in a rolling meadow with pot bunkers and slopes galore. We unfortunately did not have time to play the “Links” on this trip but you better believe it is on the “to-do” list for our next visit to Orlando.
But I was able to get out on the “Cypress” course. And I got to tell ya, it’s one of my favorite tracks in Orlando. A typical Florida course, with well-kept fairways, slick greens and water everywhere. But I love that. I love the challenge for carrying the water from the tee box.
Which is why the 3rd and 18th holes were by far my favorites.
Let’s start with the latter. The 18th is a beautiful finishing hole (don’t say it! God is watching you!). A short cape par 4, with water on the right and bunkers surrounding the green. The back tees give you the option to pull your driver, challenge the water and get to wedge-away distance from the green. Which is exactly what I did. Awesome driver… solid approach finding the green… and two-putting for a par to wrap up the round. Just an awesome, awesome hole! (DON’T SAY IT!)
However, the best hole on property is the 3rd on Cypress. The signature hole. A true par 3 island green that would give the 17th at Sawgrass a run for its money. Playing about 150 from the whites (180 from the tips), it’s one of the coolest holes I’ve ever played. And with a foursome ahead of me and no one behind, I may have taken more than one shot.
The first went in the drink (I blame the rental clubs)… but the second and third found their marks, setting up for makeable birdie attempts that almost turned into bogeys.
From first-class golf to first-class accommodations, Evermore Orlando Resort is a no-brainer for your next golf trip, family trip or really any trip involving fun in the sun.
And as a massive Disney Dork, this is the biggest compliment I can give Evermore… the next time I visit Mickey, I’m staying OFF PROPERTY at Evermore!
It’s worth it.
