As soon as I took the plastic off my new ER5, I headed straight to my backyard putting green. I chose this model because of its familiar fang-tooth design, which closely resembles my previous gamer: the Bettinardi Inovai 6.
The top lines on the ER5 are minimalist, featuring just two dots and a line for alignment. The single bend shaft and head angle set up beautifully, and the custom Evnroll pistol grip felt incredibly natural in my hands.
The biggest surprise? The weight. The ER5 is lighter than any other mallet I’ve used and felt more like a blade in terms of swing weight. At just 340 grams, the head is surprisingly light for a mallet – though additional weight sets are available for those who prefer a heavier feel.

What is MOI?
1.More MOI = More Forgiveness
MOI is a way to measure a putter head’s resistance to twisting on putts that are caught off the center of the face. The higher the number, the more stable the putter will be. A putter’s MOI isn’t always advertised but you can assume that a Mallet has a higher MOI than a blade style.
2. Less MOI = More Feel (but less stability)
Putters with high MOI will help when you miss the center of the face. It will reduce twisting and keep speed more consistent. In terms of finding a putter that’s comfortable for your stroke, though, that’s a different story. Try several different putter to fit your stroke. If you’re stuck between two putters go with more forgiveness/higher MOI.
3. MOI Isn’t a Cure-All
MOI is great, but think of it more as an insurance policy rather than a magic wand. A putter with more MOI won’t magically fix your stroke but can help minimize your misses. If you’re in between two options, consider going with the one that offers more forgiveness.
