Golf tourism in Wisconsin reached record heights in 2023 as over $400 million poured into the state’s economy by way of our favorite collective pastime.
Having recently been named the country’s top state for public golf, and with the upward trajectory of the game and new courses opening on an annual basis [mostly at Sand Valley], that number will surely continue to rise.
It’s a shame that when a bucket list round of golf at a course like Whistling Straits, Blackwolf Run, Erin Hills, SentryWorld, Mammoth Dunes or The Lido comes to an end that so does the experience.
While we keep those memories alive through a couple snaps on our phones, wouldn’t it be amazing to truly chronicle them in a way that’s fun, comprehensive and allows us to just play and enjoy the experience?
That’s exactly the experience Ryan Leurquin of Mulligan’s Aerial Productions is out to provide: You play the golf and he handles the content.
I’d been in touch with Ryan for the better part of a year, and in my downtime from photographing the 2024 Milwaukee Golf Show we talked about having him shoot one of my upcoming rounds.
That upcoming round came at one of my favorite Milwaukee area courses: The Club at Lac La Belle in Oconomowoc.
Ryan could not have been easier to work with. He asked for all my thoughts on what we wanted captured, how I wanted him to interact with our group and, of course, what the actual product should look like.
As you can see from the highlight reel video he put together, Ryan knocked it out of the park.
Our Day
Recently named one of Golf Digest’s 15 Most Fun Golf Courses in America, the only thing that could make playing The Club at Lac La Belle better is having a way to keep the round alive well after the final putt is dropped.
With a Chamber of Commerce kind of day, my friends Adam (make sure to give him a follow on Instagram and visit his restaurant, Egg & Flour in Bayview – voted Milwaukee’s Best Chef four years running!), Andy, Simon and I were in for a treat.
Ryan followed us the entire round, mostly at a distance to keep from making players nervous but also around the greens, with a variety of cameras including long-range DSLR’s, a DJI Pocket 2, cell phone and drone (he did not use the drone that day since I was already shooting aerial footage afterwards).
He captured our fun conversations, our best [and worst] shots, putts holed, sand traps not escaped and, of course, all the high fives and fist bumps along the way.
While they weren’t all perfect swings, he had more than enough for the legit highlight reel shown in the section above.
Ryan also provided plenty of stills and video clips, including ones that didn’t make the cut. Many of those can be found in the below slideshow as well as on the landing page for our group on the Mulligan’s website:

Mulligan’s: A Great Marketing Tool for Golf Courses
Not only is this a win for golfers, but in my opinion there is no better marketing tool for courses than to have players share their positive experiences on it.
Mulligan’s Aerial Productions provides players with great content they’re able to then share with their own [mostly social] networks, making it a cost-effective way to promote and market golf properties.
Interested in hiring Ryan for one of your upcoming bucket list rounds of golf?
Beginning in July, golf enthusiasts will be able to book Mulligan’s Aerial Productions’ services through their website (linked here). There will be a form to fill out with a dropdown to select from courses they’re approved to film, and if a course is not listed then simply fill it in for Ryan to obtain approval before the round.
