Since its founding in 2015 Blue Tees has been capturing more of the GPS and rangefinder market with each new product release.
I was first introduced to the brand in 2021 when I demoed their flagship Series 3 Max rangefinder. I found the Series 3 to be the total package with performance, styling and price all making it a true standout from competitors. I soon came to realize, however, that besides a rangefinder I really needed a good GPS unit to complement my course management. As I was already a user of the Blue Tees line I was excited to try their new Ringer GPS and Player + Speaker.

Blue Tees Ringer: A Compact, Reliable GPS for Every Golfer

In a market flooded with golf GPS systems, Blue Tees has managed to carve out a niche with the Ringer that blends reliability, performance and sleek design all at an affordable price point.
Weighing just 0.35 lbs, which makes it easy to hold and use, the Ringer is much smaller than other GPS units on the market. This is a key feature for golfers who appreciate portability and don’t want to be weighted down by bulky gear.

The unit fits comfortably in one hand and the textured rubber coating provides a secure grip, even in wet conditions. It’s well-constructed with a durable plastic body, and while it’s not built to survive full submersion in water it does have an IPX4 rating, meaning it’s resistant to dust and light splashes.
The Ringer is more than capable of withstanding the occasional rain shower or sweaty palms during a round. The glass screen holds up well to being thrown in the bag and I haven’t seen a scratch or crack after a season of use.
Setup
When I first received the unit I purposely didn’t read any instructions or watch reviews in order to test its ease of setup. After powering on the unit using its single button I was off and running.
With over 42,000 courses preloaded to the unit, there is no need to connect it to my phone (this is a HUGE plus for simplicity!). The satellites found the course I was on within 30 seconds and I was ready to tee off. Multiple screens were accessible via touch controls including hazards, green details and general distance. The display is bright with crisp text that is easy to read.
Key Features

Touch Screen Display
Shot Tracking
Front/Center/Back
Auto-Course Recognition
Driving Distance
Magnetic Strip
Dynamic Hazards
Music Controller for Player+
Score Keeping
10+ Hours Battery
Dynamic Green View
IPX4 Water Resistant
There are so many features packed into the Ringer that I wasn’t even aware of many until halfway through the season. The diagram below outlines the major options you can take advantage of. My favorite discovery was the ability of the Ringer to pair with the Player+ speaker and act as a music controller.

Accuracy
Bells and whistles are nice but at the end of the day is the Ringer accurate? And what role can it play in your course management?
Testing various brands of GPS units over the years I have found that distances and associated accuracy are usually within a 1- to 2-yard tolerance.
The Ringer was no exception to this and I spent time manually checking given data with rangefinder scoping and on-course yardage markers. The most I ever found the Ringer to differ by was 4 yards on a single hole, which left me with great confidence in its output overall.
Impact to Your Game
Many of us have become increasingly more dependent on rangefinders over the years, but is simply getting a distance to the pin on approach shots potentially holding back our games?
I have found myself relying on the Ringer to provide hazard information off the tee, green overviews and shot tracking. These data points all contribute to shots gained over the season as I’ve been able to make more informed decisions before each shot.
Stay Up to Date
While daily use does not require a phone connection, if you ever need to update courses or software on your Ringer the process is simple. Connecting via the Blue Tees Game App for updates is detailed in the video below:
Blue Tees Player+ : So Much more than a speaker

The original Blue Tees Player Speaker lived in my golf bag for several seasons only to be replaced by the new Player+ last year. Its speaker / GPS combination makes it a really versatile product for any golf enthusiast.
Sound Quality (9/10)
The Player+ delivers crisp, high-definition audio with impressive bass, making it perfect for listening to music or other audio while on the course.
Touchscreen volume controls are convenient including a quick mute button for tee shots. This speaker will get loud so make sure you are not disturbing others (unless it is that kind of outing!).
One feature that is not advertised enough is its dual pairing, which allows for a a second Player+ or Player GO to be connected. There were a few outings last year that our group’s carts were rocking when friends brought their own Blue Tees devices!
Design & Durability (8/10)
With a rugged, sleek design, the Player+ feels premium and durable. The built-in Magnetic Strip Technology ensures it securely attaches to golf carts, preventing any movement while driving. Plus, the IPX7 waterproof rating means it can handle unexpected rain or splashes without issues.
My biggest concern is the glass shattering if dropped directly on a hard surface so I always make sure to be careful over bumps and bridges.

Battery Life (7/10)
An advertised 15-hour battery life is more than enough for multiple rounds of golf but is ultimately dependent on what features are being used.
I typically charge mine after every round, especially if I’ve been both listening to music and using the GPS. The battery will also drain more if it hasn’t been used in several weeks.
As a great bonus and added convenience, the Player+ includes a power bank function that allows you to charge your phone or other devices while on the course.

Connectivity & Features (9/10)
Equipped with Bluetooth 5.3, the Player+ provides a stable and quick connection with minimal dropouts. The easy-to-use controls make switching songs or adjusting volume hassle-free.
It is important to note that the Player+ works in conjunction with the Blue Tees Game App to provide GPS course data and shot-tracking analytics that appear on the speaker.
Assuming you are using the speaker for music your phone should be connected, but no GPS features will work without your phone connected.
The Blue Tees App

The application that has been created by the team at Blue Tees is worth talking about on its own. What is most impressive about the app is its user interface. The navigation’s simplicity and design are appealing – both are important, in my opinion, in order to create a good experience while playing. Below are some sample screens from the Blue Tees app:

Membership
The Blue Tees app provides basic functionality for the Player+, including course GPS at no added cost.
There is, however, a premium subscription that unlocks additional screens for your Player+ along with advanced features on your phone. The three year membership cost of $100 is a great value, I believe, especially if you track shot metrics and general details about your rounds.

Overall Verdict (9/10)
The Blue Tees Player+ Speaker is a fantastic addition to any golfer’s gear. It combines excellent sound quality, durability and convenience, making it a must-have for those who enjoy music while on the course and would benefit from great integrated GPS features.
Pros:
✔️ High-quality sound with deep bass
✔️ Strong magnetic attachment for golf carts
✔️ IPX7 waterproof and rugged design
✔️ Long battery life with a built-in power bank
Cons:
❌ Bulky to store in golf bag
❌ Needs app for GPS functionality
Ringer & Player+: Is it Worth Your Purchase?
Like I stated at the beginning of this review I have been a big user of the Blue Tees ecosystem for over 3 seasons. Their products have a great feature set at an extremely competitive price point. The quality and performance of Blue Tees products cannot be denied and is a worthy investment for yourself and the benefit of your golf game.
