I fell in love with the Seamus Golf line of golf accessories at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort this past summer. Their head covers are amazing in quality and design, and one of those things that any avid golfer would LOVE to have, but could potentially feel guilty about purchasing on their own.
I purchased new head covers from a different manufacturer earlier this year, and they did not turn out the way I’d hoped, putting me back in the market again.
Seamus Golf’s head covers are each carefully cut, sewn and packaged by hand for individual golfers, and feature elegant 100% tartan wools from Scotland and Ireland. In addition to tartans, Seamus Golf sources from Pendleton Woolen Mills, a local mill in the Pacific Northwest (Seamus is an Oregon-based company) and are available in a multitude of fun patterns and colors that are inspired by the game of golf and its most legendary courses.
The wool head covers are lined with a soft, quick-drying and lightweight industrial fleece colored to provide a pop to the woolen exterior.
These head covers are very cool, and – with the possible exceptions of a remote control push cart or Bubba Watson’s hovercraft – are the ultimate luxury golf gift for avid players.
Some of Seamus Golf’s most popular head covers include:
Sloan Square Steel:
Price: $55 – $65
Shepherd – Guard:
Price: $55 – $65
Doune
Price: $55 – $65
Douglas Grey Modern:
Price: $55 – $65
Irish National:
Price: $55 – $65
Thompson Dress Modern:
Price: $55 – $65
Charcoal Tweed:
Price: $55 – $65
Red Menzies:
Price: $55 – $65
To further accessorize Seamus Golf’s head covers, there is also the option of adding a personalized leather tag with a name, company or other message. The leather labels are made of vegetable tanned leather that is stitched on to the bottom of the cover (e.g. on the Thompson Dress Modern cover, shown above), and wear in to a dark cognac hue over time.
Adding these leather labels to the head covers adds $10 to the cost. If you are looking to order these for your significant other, just know that it is not necessary for each cover – in my opinion, just on the driver cover is more than enough!

How to Pick the Right Covers:
There are so many designs and patterns on Seamus Golf’s website that anyone is bound to find more than one that speaks to them and their golf personality. Given the investment that a set of these can result in, that can feel intimidating. Remember: Simple is good. Keep a color palette in mind, but don’t be afraid to get a little outside the box.
As you will see by perusing Seamus Golf’s Instagram account (@seamusgolf), most lovers of the brand actually order a collection of different patterns and colors… Some on the plainer side, while others are far from subdued. Mixing it up shows personality, for example:

If you are not comfortable making an entire set selection for your significant other, there is one club head cover that you should go with as a present: The driver. Most golfers only personalize their driver head cover (e.g: Bucky Badger head cover, CaddyShack gopher, pom pom covers, etc.), so if buying one to start is more your style, make it for the driver.
While on the Seamus Golf website, make sure to sign up for an account as doing so will provide you a 10% off coupon code to use on your order (and will keep you up to date with the company’s new products and designs).
One More Thing(s):
If you are already looking to place an order on a website, it’s always fun to throw in a little, unique item that will be appreciated, and with Seamus Golf the one I really like is their steel and copper hand forged ball markers:
Steel and Copper Forged Ball Markers:
Cost: $29.00 (includes personalization)
I first saw these ball markers at Streamsong Resort in Florida, then in all of Bandon Dunes’ pro shops, and here in Wisconsin at Whistling Straits, Blackwolf Run and Erin Hills (great company to keep). While pricey in comparison to most ball markers, they are certainly unique and can be hand stamped with a short message or initials.
All of Seamus Golf’s Hand Forged items like these ball markers are made in Portland, Oregon, by a second generation blacksmith who learned the trade in his father’s shop. Designed by Seamus Golf and inspired by a vintage niblick, the metal ball mark carries forward the same aesthetic of the hickory shafted antiques gamed by Tom Morris and the like.
Each hand forged item is one-of-a-kind.
Other individual last-gasp items to consider from Seamus Golf:
Hand Forged Single-Prong Pitch Tool:
Price: $55
Hand Forged Oimet Money Clip:
Price: $65
(This item cannot be customized at this time)
Hand Forged Bag Tag:
Price: $45
Golfers accessorizing with club head covers is not a new thing, but nobody has done it as well as Seamus Golf has. With their high quality products and unlimited options for personalization, there has never been a more fun way to accessorize the golf game as with Seamus Golf. These are definitely on my Christmas wish list.
