The Dance Floor: A Little Something-Something for Everybody at Geneva National

Destination golf courses across the country are investing in their properties to add new, curated golf experiences aimed at allowing players to experience more golf while on-site, and to allow new entrants to the game to find their own Wisco golf addictions they’ll associate strongly with the wonderful experience they have while there.

The newest of these non-championship golf amenities in Wisconsin is The Dance Floor at Geneva National Resort & Club. A 27-hole Himalayas-style putting course, The Dance Floor replaces the previous practice putting green adjacent to the property’s beautiful (and recently updated) clubhouse, overlooking Lake Como and numerous holes of the Palmer and Player layouts.

Aptly named, The Dance Floor is a 44,000 square foot putting course that provides a symphony of steep, rolling contours in a party-like setting that includes a cantina, taco bar and bocce, all steps from the clubhouse and its ample amenities.

Designed by golf course architect Craig Haltom (famous for his work at Sand Valley – think “Craig’s Porch,” The Club at Lac La Belle, Stevens Point Country Club, The Beloit Club, Trappers Turn and others), the course is spacious with a very cool vibe and options galore.

The “holes” urge players to think outside the box to traverse the course’s many hills and spines, and most can be played a nearly infinite number of ways. One recent video the resort posted on their Instagram story, for example, highlighted three completely different lines a single hole can be attacked – even playing backwards – all leading to made putts. Who doesn’t enjoy the opportunity for creative golf?

Players can bring their own balls and putters, or – included in the $9 greens fee for those coming just for The Dance Floor – get a logo ball and borrow one of the resort’s clubs. Full 27-hole rounds should take under an hour to play and are a perfect way to spend extra time in a wonderful golf setting at one of Wisconsin’s top resort destinations.

The Grand Opening & Putt with Paige

To celebrate The Dance Floor’s debut, Geneva National held a massive grand opening featuring a “Putt With Paige” contest where one lucky winner got the opportunity to play the inaugural 27-hole round with former LPGA player and golf celebrity Paige Spiranac.

Recently named the “World’s Sexiest Person” by Maxim, Paige’s career has exploded since leaving the world of competitive golf – where she was one of the top-ranked female players on the planet – and started focusing on content creation as a top-level golf influencer.

Givin’ her a go!

It didn’t take long to see how solid of a player she is. Her first putt, a ridiculous 40-foot downhill left-to-right slider, nearly holed out on The Dance Floor, and from what I hear (she played in the group ahead of us with Haltom, PointsBet Senior Editor and personal friend, Teddy Greenstein, and Geneva National Head Pro Joe Serpico) she made at least 100 feet of putts in the group’s 9-hole scramble on the Player course.

WiscoGolfAddict.com Contributing Writer, Troy Giljohann, and I enjoyed listening to her interview, as well, where she was candid about her professional golf career and battles with anxiety (a fight I struggle with at times, as well), the life of a young prodigy and now social media influencer. It’s always refreshing for me to meet these larger-than-life personalities and see that they’re “real,” genuine people, too. Paige is certainly that.

The Next Dance

Adding The Dance Floor to Geneva National’s golf amenities was a strategic initiative that brings the fun and excitement of golf to resort-goers who otherwise may not be comfortable playing a full 18 holes of championship golf.

It also allows avid golf enthusiasts to play more while on-property, even at night with a fully illuminated course and signature cocktails in hand, being serenaded by surround sound built into the green’s perimeters.

The Dance Floor will host the state’s 2022 Putting Championship this Thursday. This WSGA event will be an 18-hole, par 36 event measuring to 460 tournament yards. If interested in taking part, the cost is $50 and registration goes through tomorrow, Tuesday August 23. You can sign up through this link with the WSGA:

While there, don’t miss out on your opportunity to play more golf, too, and be sure to check out all the great amenities Geneva National Resort & Club has to offer.
