My closet is littered with old pairs of shorts and pants that I’ve worn a few times and then let sit for years.

Outside of my Galway Bay all-weathers I’ve rarely found anything I’ve enjoyed wearing and feel truly comfortable in for a long period of time, so when I discovered BirdDogs and their new genre of shorts and pants – and loved them – I was hooked.

BirdDogs is revolutionizing bottomwear with shorts and pants featuring built-in liners.

That’s right, the underwear is literally sewn in… and it’s comfortable as hell!

With gym shorts, khakis, oxfords, joggers, sweatpants (think yoga pants for men) and swim suits, BirdDogs has a full lineup of bottoms for all parts of your busy day.

And I’ve also found them to work great for golf. So good, in fact, that between use on the golf course and in the office I’ve now got eight total pairs of BirdDogs shorts and pants.

BirdDogs have been perfect golf bottoms for me. The shorts are ideal, of course (the sewn-in liners keep bees and other insects from flying up your legs, by the way), and their pants allow me to walk the course comfortably and “freely.”

And the award for Best Marketing goes to…

BirdDogs.

If you’re not privy to BirdDogs’ marketing efforts yet, do yourself a favor and subscribe to their email list.

That’s not something I’ve said often, if ever, but their advertising campaigns are hilarious, littered with current events and pointed pop culture references.

BirdDogs marketing experts, who I had the joy of spending time with at this past year’s PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, have created an entire world of characters to represent their brand, ranging from Tiger Woulds to Fart Garfunkel, Shaquille Oatmeal, Stephen Jobs, Lames Bond, Ernie Musk, Mitch Cumstein, Uncle Buck, Gabe Ruth, Wayne Regretzky, Hoff, members of their staff and a host of others.

Each of BirdDogs’ shorts, pants and shirts are named for a different, completely fictional [of course] character, and the marketing is fantastic.

BirdDogs recently hired a new Head of HR, for example, Chuck:

They even poke fun at their owner, Peter, who always seems to get stuck with the bill following expensive work lunches and nights out, and is always content letting office high jinks slide.

BirdDogs for Your everyday lifestyle

New to BirdDogs and interested in dipping your toes in the water? The first thing you’ll want to try is their shorts with sewn-in underwear.

BirdDogs’ next most popular product offering is their long pants. They offer bottoms with or without the liners (without a change in price at $119/pair) in all different colors and intended functions, including more formal, office-like stretch khakis as well as laidback joggers.

My two pairs of BirdDogs pants (the Stephen Jobs and Ernie Musks) have become my go-to pants for days I’m in the office. They’re comfortable and fit well – not baggy and not slim, just right… and comfortable, which I’ve found to be a great common theme when discussing BirdDogs offerings.

Here are a few pics from a recent practice session at North Hills Country Club in my Ernie Musks (36×32, color: midnight navy).

BirdDogs Golf Polos

New to the BirdDogs offering, their polos are silky smooth and fit comfortably. Available in many popular colorways, they are offering polos in solid colors, vertical stripes and prints. I picked up Gary’s Anatomy and Hairy Poppins polos for the 2024 season and have been loving them each time I’ve worn them.

These shirts are everything I’ve come to expect from BirdDogs: Crazy comfortable and well-made with subtle style and a reasonable price point at $99 a shirt.

Of course, BirdDogs wants to remind us that polos aren’t for every situation!

Here are a few times you may want to “avoid dressing up” from a recent email:

Limited Edition Runs

BirdDogs also does some great limited edition runs of product and accessories, like this past holiday season’s Tiger Woulds driver head covers:

“You wouldn’t, but Tiger Would.”

I’ve gotten a ton of compliments (and laughs) on this head cover in the rounds I’ve had it on the course with me!

While it’s not available on their website – it was offered as an incentive for orders taken over the holidays – I think the Tiger Woulds headcovers will end up being a bit of a collector’s item. As an avid collector of all things golf and sports, I’m happy I was able to get one.

Upgrade Your Bottoms Game

It’s not often there are “technological advances” in shorts and pants, but BirdDogs has found a way to do it with their sewn-in liners.

They’ve also made them incredibly cool, comfortable and stylish at a reasonable price point ($69/pair of shorts and $99-$119/pair of pants), especially for how distinctive their product is.

Order your first pair of BirdDogs today and see for yourself how this cool up-and-coming lifestyle brand will make your days more comfortable, both on and off the golf course.
