The Readers Voted: Ten Best Rated Courses

I got a couple of emails since posting the article about the readers’ favorite par fives, and it was asked for more details about the polls that people have filled out on my site.

Here’s another one: The top ten courses in Wisconsin (that I have already rated), according to you, the readers:

  1. Blackwolf Run, River – 10.0, 4 votes *
  2. Erin Hills – 9.04, 25 votes
  3. SentryWorld – 8.67, 6 votes *
  4. Whistling Straits, Irish Course – 8.62, 78 votes
  5. Geneva National, Palmer Course – 8.28, 18 votes
  6. Hawk’s Landing – 8.2, 25 votes
  7. The Oaks – 8.16, 25 votes
  8. The Bog – 8.15, 117 votes
  9. The Bull – 8.14, 107 votes
  10. Hawk’s View – 8.13, 8 votes *
  11. University Ridge – 8.09, 80 votes
  12. Morningstar – 8.0, 14 votes
  13. Wild Rock – 8.0, 50 votes
  14. Lawsonia, Woodlands Course – 7.97, 65 votes
  15. Grand Geneva, Brute Course – 7.81, 26 votes

* Denotes less than 10 votes
Apparently, you people are very tough judges! Some of the courses I was surprised to see with low scores include the Links Course at Lawsonia (7.72, 68 votes), Castle at the Bay (7.62, 53 votes), Washington County (7.43, 80 votes), Brown Deer (7.03, 77 votes), Fire Ridge (7.0, 18 votes), and Ironwood (6.30, 65 votes).
In case you were curious, here are the scores (so far) for the out-of-staters:
  1. Timberstone – 9.1, 10 votes
  2. ThunderHawk – 8.47, 15 votes
  3. Greywalls – 8.38, 8 votes *
  4. Sweetgrass – 8.33, 6 votes *
  5. Shepherd’s Crook – 7.71, 7 votes *
* Denotes less than 10 votes
There are obviously less votes for these courses, since readers primarily from Wisconsin have a lower chance of having played them (yet).
