Am I Actually Starting to Wear Down?

I started out the season not playing much, and in the past couple of weeks have really pressed my game in to high gear. Not that I’ve been playing well, but I’ve been playing a LOT. I’ve been consistently between 87-92 at my home club at North Hills, but in the past two days have absolutely fallen off the face of the earth with a 101 and 103.

Am I actually starting to wear down? Over the past six or so years, I’ve averaged well over 100 rounds a year, and at around 40 this season in late August I’m obviously well behind schedule. So what gives? Today it felt like I’ve never hit a golf ball before. My putting wasn’t awful, but I think I hit two fairways the entire day. Yesterday I was hitting the ball well in the morning at Tuckaway Country Club (and three-putted constantly – they rolled the heck out of the greens in the morning for their club championship), but then I hit the ball terribly at my own course.

For the first time that I can remember, I’m actually kind of happy that it’s Sunday, and that tomorrow (Monday) is the one day of the week that the club is closed. I can probably use the day off!
