In the sweltering 44-degree Wisconsin heat that we have been blessed with today, I had to take the opportunity to get out and hit some golf balls.
I have some very exciting trips coming up, including the Gulf Shores of Alabama (Kiva Dunes, Craft Farms, Peninsula, Lost Key) and Streamsong (Red and Blue courses) next month, and I had to find out if I can get my swing looking as smooth as it did in these videos from late last season:
The indoor hitting bays at the Moorland Road Golf Center in New Berlin were packed with golfers fired up to swing the sticks. My focus was on swinging smoothly, and to avoid completely the hitch that dominated my swing just a couple of years ago. I had my irons lengthened and regripped last week, so I was really curious how they would feel.
At 6’3″, I have always known I’m probably too tall to be using standard length shafts, but have played them a little bent over, anyways. So far, these new lengthened clubs feel great!
Irons practice (6-iron):
I obviously kept my driver the same length – just lengthened the irons and wedges by 1/2″ and 3/4″, respectively.
Driver practice:
Now if we can just get all this snow melted, the ground firmed up and some warm Spring weather, we can get the annual march toward better scoring started. Happy Spring, everybody!
